Background and challenge
Each year, NSW Treasury supports small and emerging businesses across the state by showcasing their produce at Fine Food Australia, the country’s largest foodservice and hospitality event.
Small and medium sized businesses who have developed exciting and innovative offerings are hosted on the Flavours of NSW stand, a destination stand for many local and international distributors, buyers and exporters.
Given the significant growth opportunities, the NSW Treasury team needed to ensure that participating businesses were well prepared to market their products at the show and positioned to capitalise on business growth opportunities.
Our solution
Juntos Marketing were invited to develop and facilitate a marketing training workshop during the pre-event planning day held in July at Parliament House. Within the interactive workshop session, participants were guided through a range of strategies to make the most of the trade show, from developing tight target objectives, to a review and plan of all their marketing and promotional material, and guidelines for managing enquires and leads.
It was wonderful to re-connect with businesses we have supported in the past, including the award-winning Indigiearth, one of Australia’s leading suppliers of Australian native and bush tucker foods, and Molives, whose delicious olive and cheese offerings have already achieved traction in Malaysia.
What happened next
The Flavours of NSW stand at this year’s Fine Food Australia has been seen as highly successful. The marketing training workshop helped equip trade stand participants with practical tools and the confidence to capitalise on the interest of buyers and distributors. During and after the show, several co-exhibitors secured media coverage. A number of the businesses are now in promising post-show negotiations with a view to new distribution channels domestically and internationally. And the team at NSW Treasury felt the workshop met their needs as well.
“Thank you so much for such a great workshop! We’ve received such great feedback from our co-exhibitors.”
