Community consultation on important natural resources
In order to understand the community sentiment and to inform the development of the Batemans Marine Park management plan, Juntos Marketing undertook a comprehensive series of community consultations.
Reaching a cross section of the community
Our client, the NSW Department of Primary Industries, understood the importance of engaging with a true representative cross-section of the community. This included residents as well as holiday-makers who know the Batemans Marine Park and use it for a wide range of activities.
With field teams on the ground across the region, over several weekends, we undertook a unique hybrid methodology to maximise participation and representation.
Comprehensive analysis and reporting
By engaging Juntos Marketing as an independent, experienced and respected research provider, the Department could confidently determine the perceived values and threats to the marine environment. They were able to understand how these views align and how they differ by sociodemographic group and by core interest or user groups.
The ultimate outcome of this community consultation was providing tangible results and recommendations that could provide clear direction for ongoing management of the Batemans Marine Park, conservation and the balancing of multiple potential secondary uses.
