Getting the message out: digitising a decision tool
In our digital world, online access to health initiatives is a priority. A key step is converting respected and evidence-based health tools from academia to formats that are easily accessible.
When Professor Lynette McKenzie completed a large randomised controlled trial she wanted to widen access to her validated and standardised falls prevention screener (HomeFAST), so that many more people – in Australia and globally – could benefit.
To do this, the University of Sydney engaged Juntos Marketing to undertake all the important steps to convert the paper-based research tool into an accessible, user-friendly digital format.
Brand, user-friendly website and downloadables for digital decision tool
Our initial work involved designing and developing a new brand look that would work on digital and print formats. From there, we designed a user-friendly ecommerce enabled website to provide access to resources. A core function of the website was also to host two versions of the screener decision tool – one for health professionals and a second for consumers.
Findability: A name and URL to support strong Google rankings
HomeFAST, the original name for the tool, had worked well in the formal research stage. In order to facilitate strong SEO results (search engine optimisation or findability on the internet) we recommended a different URL was used. www.stopfallsathome.com.au describes exactly, the purpose of the tool and is a likely search term.
Alongside the full website design and build, we also designed over 25 downloadable resources with important evidence-based information about reducing the risk of a fall at home.
A fully integrated digital solution and ecommerce enabled website
The HomeFAST digital decision tool is hosted within the ecommerce enabled website, www.stopfallsathome.com.au, with both free and premium versions available. Personalised recommendations are generated based on a user’s responses.
Links to the relevant downloadables are incorporated in the recommendations, aligned with recommended actions in the paper based ‘HomeFAST’ screener. This completes a fully integrated digital solution that incorporates complementary consumer pathways and resources.
In recognition of the quality of this work, Juntos Marketing together with Professor McKenzie were awarded a recent University of Sydney Digital Health People’s Choice Award.
